About Us

Houston Random Acts of Kindness

Treveia Dennis, together with her husband David Dennis, turned personal tragedy into a mission of hope after losing close family members. They founded a movement in Houston that celebrates Random Acts of Kindness Day every July 25th, encouraging people, businesses, schools, and organizations to spread compassion through simple acts of kindness. Supported by city proclamations, their initiative continues to inspire positive change and bring light to communities through empathy and generosity.
The effort is to engage businesses, schools, churches, individuals and organizations to promote empathy and compassion through random acts of kindness. To deliver a message of hope by following the lead of those who have impacted change with far fewer resources. Quote, “In a sea of despair, in the face of adversity, and at the brink of hopelessness there are countless individuals that shed light through tunnels of darkness with the simplest acts of kindness.

Our Story

From Pain to Purpose

A Loss That Became Light

It all began with a moment of heartbreak — a personal loss that changed everything. In the silence that followed, one question kept echoing: What if pain could become purpose? From that question, Houston Random Acts of Kindness was born — not as a project, but as a promise to turn grief into giving, and sorrow into service.

A Stranger’s Kindness

During the darkest days, a simple act from a stranger changed everything — a warm meal, a kind word, a moment of care when it was needed most. That single gesture proved something powerful: kindness doesn’t just help… it heals. Today, every action we take is a reflection of that same unexpected compassion.

From Silence to Impact

What started as quiet pain slowly transformed into action. Instead of staying in the shadows of loss, we chose to step into the light — helping families, supporting individuals, and uplifting strangers across Houston. Each act of kindness became a way to keep love alive beyond loss.

A Chain of Hope: One act of kindness inspired another… and then another. A food box, a helping hand, a message of hope — small things that created big change. Houston Random Acts of Kindness continues this chain, proving that when one heart gives, many hearts heal.
